A Police Officer has been hit by a car in the latest disturbing example of officers being injured in the line of duty in London.

The incident occurred in Uxbridge, West London on Wednesday following a report that suspects were breaking into a house.

A local officer attended the scene in plain clothes and was struck by a car.

He suffered a broken ankle and was taken to hospital to recover.

The driver of the car, said to be a “passing member of the public”, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The Met have said that: “At this early stage of the investigation, it is not believed the suspected assault was because the injured party was an officer.”

It comes after a Police Officer was stabbed in London earlier in the week in West London.

Another Officer was stabbed in North London earlier in July as well.
