Thursday saw more illegal migrant boat crossings as it now becomes a daily occurrence.

It was the third day in a row this week that saw the crossings.

There was a lengthy delay in the details being confirmed, with numbers only being released on Friday evening.

Eight boats carrying 86 migrants in total made it across to England in total on Thursday, below is the breakdown via the Home Office:

This week alone has saw large amounts of illegal migrant boat crossings.

Wednesday saw four boats carrying 43 migrants, including a vessel with 34 people onboard.

On Tuesday it was 13 migrant boats carrying a whopping 159 individuals in a single day.

And the Sunday to Sunday period before that saw at least 35 migrant boats carrying 455 individuals make it across.

The Minister for Immigration Compliance and the Courts, Chris Philp, has said: “These crossings are illegally facilitated and no one should be attempting them in the first place.

“The French have stopped thousands of migrants this year, with more stopped today, and those who reach the UK via this route are being returned. But we are pressing the French Government for stronger enforcement measures, including interceptions at sea and direct returns of boats.

“We are also taking action to prevent boats from launching, including setting up a joint intelligence cell, to go after the criminals behind these crossings. This year, 22 people smugglers have been jailed and earlier this week our investigations resulted in 11 more arrests.”
