Friday saw yet more migrant boats cross the Channel illegally, with nearly one hundred more people making it to England.

On top of the nine boats and nearly 100 individuals who came across on Friday, the Home Office say that the French authorities also prevented more migrants from crossing than made it to the UK yesterday.

The full list of crossings on Friday are set out below:

The Home Office also now say that: “We are currently bound by the Dublin Regulations when it comes to returns, which is not fit for purpose.

“It is inflexible and rigid and is abused by both migrants and activist lawyers to frustrate the returns of those who have no right to be here.

“But at the end of this year, we will no longer be bound by EU laws and can negotiate our own returns agreement.”

The Minister for Immigration Compliance and the Courts, Chris Philp, has said: “The number of illegal small boat crossings we are seeing from France is unacceptably high. And migrants continue to arrive in Calais to make the crossing.

“The French have to take tougher action. We need stronger enforcement measures, including interceptions at sea and direct return of boats.

“The French have heard that directly from the Home Secretary and we will continue to work with them until the situation changes.

“We will also continue to go after the criminals who facilitate these crossings and return the migrants who come to the UK in this way.”

Earlier this week 20 boats and 202 migrant crossed in a single day as the problem continues to escalate.
